 A Good Hearty Laugh
  • Even looking forward to having a good laugh can boost your immune system and reduce stress. • Laughter appears to cause the tissue that forms the inner lining of blood vessels, the endothelium, to dilate or expand in order to increase blood flow.
  • Playful laughing fuels positive energy, creativity and connection.
  • Boosts immune functions.
  • Increase’s pain tolerance.
  • Exercises facial, abdominal and chest muscles.

Smiling

  • Smiling is Million Dollar Habit.
“There are five habits you can develop to assure wonderful
human relationships, both at home and work.
They are: acceptance, appreciation, admiration, approval, and attention.
The simplest way to express acceptance of another person
is simply to smile each time you see him or her.”

Laughter can help our health! Click HERE for the entire article about 7 benefits of laughter.

1. LOWERS BLOOD PRESSURE

People who lower their blood pressure will reduce their risk of stroke and heart attack.

2. REDUCES STRESS HORMONE LEVELS

By reducing the level of stress hormones, you’re simultaneously cutting the anxiety and stress that impacts your body. Additionally, the reduction of stress hormones may result in higher immune system performance.

3. WORKS YOUR ABS

One of the benefits of laughter is that it can help you tone your abs. When you are laughing, the muscles in your stomach expand and contract, similar to when you intentionally exercise your abs.

4. IMPROVES CARDIAC HEALTH

Laughter is a great cardio workout, especially for those who are incapable of doing other physical activity due to injury or illness. It gets your heart pumping and burns a similar amount of calories per hour as walking at a slow to moderate pace. So, laugh your heart into health.

5. BOOSTS T-CELLS

T-cells are specialized immune system cells just waiting in your body for activation. When you laugh, you activate T-cells that immediately begin to help you fight off sickness. Next time you feel a cold coming on, add chuckling to your illness prevention plan.

6. TRIGGERS THE RELEASE OF ENDORPHINS

Endorphins are the body’s natural painkillers. By laughing, you can release endorphins, which can help ease chronic pain and make you feel good all over.

7. PRODUCES A GENERAL SENSE OF WELL-BEING

Laughter can increase your overall sense of well-being. Doctors have found that people who have a positive outlook on life tend to fight diseases better than people who tend to be more negative. So smile, laugh, and live longer!

It’s National Popcorn Day! The Morning Thing 1/19/17

national-popcorn-day-january-19-1024x512

National Popcorn Day is observed annually January 19th.

This time-honored treat can be sweet or savory, caramelized, buttered or plain, molded into a candied ball or tossed with nuts and chocolate. However, it is enjoyed, enjoy it on National Popcorn Day, January 19th.

(From www.nationaldaycalendar.com) The use of popcorn dates back all the way to the 16th century, where popcorn was used in headdresses worn during Aztec ceremonies honoring Tlaloc, their god of maize and fertility. Early Spanish explorers were fascinated by the corn that burst into what looked like a white flower.

Popcorn started becoming popular in the United States in the middle 1800s. It wasn’t until Charles Cretors, a candy-store owner, developed a machine for popping corn with steam that the tasty treat became more abundantly poppable. By 1900 he had horse-drawn popcorn wagons going through the streets of Chicago.

Click HERE to read more about the history of popcorn.

Today, Americans consume 13 billion quarts of popcorn a year, more than any other country in the world. A majority of the popcorn produced in the world is grown in the United States. Nebraska leads the corn belt in popcorn production.

Enjoy your favorite popcorn, take a photo and share on social media using #NationalPopcornDay.

We also dove into the Biblical perspective of chasing dreams. According to hearitfirst.com there are seven reasons to chase your dreams, each one can be found in the story of King David. Read his full story in 1 Samuel.

#1 God Choose you for this dream.
David was minding his own business, caring for the family’s flock, when God chose him to become the next king if Israel.

#2 God supernaturally gifts you with what you need for this dream.
Throughout David’s journey, God gave him the strength and abilities needed to press on through trails and tribulations. Whether is was defeating Goliath or hiding from Saul, David was able to pass each obstacle with God’s help.

#3 God allows trials to test your dream.
David’s life was not easy. He experienced many obstacles and trials along the way. He was on the run, battled a giant, lost his family, and much more. But, he trusted God through it all and God brought him through each and every time.

#4 God provides for you in the journey towards your dream.
David was provided for at every part of his journey, even if it was in unexpected ways. The Lord provided food, water, protection and guidance with every step.

#5 God gives you direction on how to go about your dream.
David consulted God at every turn and obstacle. With God’s guidance David was able to transition from a poor shepherd boy to the King of God’s people.

#6 God confirms your dream through other people.
David received affirmation of his call to be king through many people including his mentor Samuel, his friend Jonathan and his wife Abigail. God intentionally places people in our lives to affirm His call on our lives.

#7 God follows through with your dream in His timing.
David grew up a shepherd boy. But, in God’s timing became one of the most powerful people in the world at the time. It wasn’t easy and his journey took time. But, God’s timing and guidance was perfect in every way.
