WNZR shines the spotlight on Place 4 Grace

The Morning Thing is focusing on local ministries this week. WNZR’s Marcy Rinehart talked with Kandee Popham, Executive Director for Place 4 Grace.

Kandee shared how the Place 4 Grace team has learned some valuable lessons this past year. She also shared how God has richly blessed them in the midst of this pandemic.

WNZR shines the spotlight on TouchPointe Marriage & Family Resources

The Morning Thing is focusing on local ministries this week. WNZR’s Marcy Rinehart talked with Dan Humphrey, Founder and CEO of TouchPointe Marriage and Family Resources.

Dan shared the story about the founding of the outreach, their mission and details about the services that TouchPointe provides to residents of our community. He shared the exciting story of how the ministry found and moved to their new location at 400 S Gay St, Mt Vernon.

Dan also shared exciting news about how TouchPointe is now connected to a licensed counselor and there are new monthly training initiatives for volunteers.

He also shares lessons learned in 2020 and the goals set for 2021.

WNZR shines the spotlight on Knox Starting Point

The Morning Thing is focusing on local ministries this week. WNZR’s Marcy Rinehart and Wesley Boston talked with two representatives from a wonderful ministry – Knox Starting Point.

Diana Wetzel, Executive Director of Starting Point shared how God has been blessing the ministry even in the midst of a pandemic. She shared exciting news about new ministry outreach for 2021. Diana also shared her big goals for the new year.

Jenn Furray, Development Director of Starting Point shared the exciting news about their new outreach – Cultural Converations. This new part of the ministry will greatly help youth in our community.
Jenn also shared about Starting Point’s “Journey of Healing”. This powerful new outreach will help those who have been through a reproductive loss.

WNZR introduces a NEW ministry to Knox County – Manage Your Memories and Messes

The Morning Thing is focusing on local ministries this week.
WNZR’s Marcy Rinehart talked with Bege Wiegman from Manage Your Memories and Messes.
Bege shared the mission behind this exciting, new ministry to senior citizens in our community.
She shared how this free ministry is helping seniors who want to: downsize, declutter a room, closet or files and preserve keepsakes.

This service is provided by a local pastor and a dedicated team of volunteers who have passed background checks. Each year, they give over 300 hours to serve an average of 20-30 clients.
They adhere to COVID precautions. References are available.

The Morning Thing is focusing on local ministries this week. WNZR’s Marcy Rinehart talked with Joe Springer, Operations Manager and Advocate for the Winter Sanctuary.

Joe shared the story about the founding of the outreach, their mission and details about the shelter’s operation.
He also shared the current needs for the shelter and described the homeless situation in Knox County.
Joe shared goals for the ministry and how the advocacy program is making a huge difference.

WNZR’s Marcy Rinehart talked with two representatives from a NEW ministry – Fostering Family Ministries.

Sherry Bouquet, Executive Director of Fostering Family Ministries shared the story of how God led her to start this ministry. She talks about their mission, how churches can get involved and her goals for 2021. Sherry also shared some eye-opening stats about the foster care crisis happening in Knox County.

Crunch out Knox County

Healthy habits can be hard to start. That’s why it’s encouraging to hear about Crunch Out Knox County- an awesome program for 4th Graders done in partnership with United Way of Knox County. Students are provided with exercise balls and the tools and lessons to start building healthy habits at a young age. To learn more about this great program, we talked to Nadia Kershner, this year’s Knox County Crunch Out essay winner, and Marilyn Rutherford, the P.E. teacher at Fredericktown elementary school. You can hear the entire conversation HERE. Check it out and get some good advice from which even we adults can learn something!
