It is World Gratitude Day! What are you thankful for?

Today (9/21), The Morning Thing celebrated World Gratitude Day.

World Gratitude Day has been designed to bring the whole world together in a day that is all about being thankful. World Gratitude Day joins organizations, nationals, and individuals in sharing their gratitude in a number of different ways. (from www.daysoftheyear.com)

This global celebration dates back to 1965. Click HERE to read more about the history of this special day.

The Morning Thing Co-hosts shared what they are thankful for today:

How can you celebrate World Gratitude Day?
Here are some ideas:
– Reflect on the many amazing things we have in our lives.
– Simply be thankful for the fact that you have woken up and experienced a brand new day.
– If you have a pet, your loyal pet is definitely worthy of your gratitude.
– You can also be thankful for the beautiful nature, which provides us with sunsets and many other blessings.
– Be thankful for our health.
– Be grateful for your job, which gives you a purpose, feeds your children, and pays the bills.
– Be thankful for the roof that is over your head. Some people don’t have a home to live in, and so this is something you should always be grateful for.
– Start a gratitude journal. Make sure you write down all of the things that you are thankful for. This is the sort of activity that all ages can get involved with. In fact, we think it is a great thing for children to do because it helps them to appreciate the things they have in life.
– Have a meal together and enjoy some family time.
– Create a gratitude jar whereby you can put in thankful statements throughout the year. You can then read through them on World Gratitude Day.
– Take the time to help those that are less fortunate than us. You can offer a donation or you can donate your time instead.

We also shared some powerful bible verses on thankfulness. Click HERE to see the complete list.

Strengthening Your Immune System

2020 has been more focused on health than any other recent year. There has been lots of focus on how to prevent the spread of a global pandemic, but what about the everyday sickness? Even in normal years it can be easy to come down with something minor more than once throughout the Fall and Winter.

We decided to help with that. Today on the show we shared nine ways to strengthen your immune system.

  1. Get enough sleep
  2. Eat more whole plant foods
  3. Eat more healthy fats
  4. Eat more fermented foods or take a probiotic supplement
  5. Limit added sugars
  6. Engage in moderate exercise
  7. Stay hydrated
  8. Manage your stress levels
  9. Supplement wisely

It is International Pardon Day. Who will you forgive today?

The Morning Thing focused on forgiveness today (9/8).
Today is International Pardon Day. The history of this special day takes us back to 1974 when President Gerald Ford presented a rather controversial Presidential Proclamation. This proclamation pardoned Richard M. Nixon of all wrongdoing that was related to that most famous of American scandals, the Watergate affair.

If you are holding a grudge against those who have committed some offense against you, Pardon Day grants you a valid reason to examine your feelings and the time that has passed, and to let that resentment and anger go.

Click HERE to read more about Pardon Day.

The Morning Thing shared scriptures that talk about forgiveness.
Click HERE to see the FULL List of 20 verses from www.countryliving.com.
Here are a few or our favorites.

Ephesians 4:32
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Matthew 6:14
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”

Colossians 3:13
Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”

Matthew 18:21-22
“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, ‘Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.’ “

1 John 1:9
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Psalm 103:12
“As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
