10 Things I’m not doing just because Pinterest says so

Oftentimes we find ourselves comparing our lives to others and things we see online and we need reminders to lift us up. This morning we talked about 10 Things I’m not doing just because Pinterest says so. Author Marie Osborne gives us two phrases she likes to remind herself. “That’s ok. I’m good at enough things and Oh well-I can’t be good at everything.” She explains that these two phrases have became a mantra for a life of grace and acceptance.

We talked about……

  • Screen-free parenting
  • Putting Down my phone
  • Feeding My Family Balanced Based Meals
  • Feeding My Family Cute Meals
  • Memory-Keeping
  • Housekeeping
  • Active/Outdoor/ Nature Stuff
  • Homemade Essentials
  • Holiday Specific Decorations
  • Daily Family Devotions

We also shared “10 Verses To Remind You That You Are Enough.” When we are comparing ourselves to others and looking down on ourselves we want to come back to scripture to remind ourselves that no matter what you are enough. Thank you to Walk in Love for this wonderful article. Here are some of the verses we shared this morning.

  1. So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. – Genesis 1:27
  2. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. –Psalm 139:13-16
  3. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. – 1 Peter 2:9

Celebrate Pumpkin Day With Unique Fall Recipes!

Happy Pumpkin Day! Though some pumpkin-fanatics might argue that it should be considered a federal holiday with paid time off, it’s a lesser known holiday that doesn’t get much attention. That shouldn’t stop you from celebrating though! Today we shared a list of unique pumpkin recipes compiled by Reader’s Digest. There are plenty of options here, so you can really embrace the fall season with your meal planning for the next month. Or perhaps you’ll find a new treat to spice up the Thanksgiving menu this year. Check out the entire list HERE. Bon Appetit!

Fall Cleaning Part 2: Toys

Yesterday we shared a fall cleaning checklist to help you get your house in order, both inside and out, before winter hits. While you’re already in the cleaning mindset, you might as well take the time to add one more thing to the list: your kids’ toys. Though let’s be real, this is easily a year round assignment.

The tips come from The Krazy Coupon Lady, which is also a great resource for money saving tips and tricks. The cleaning methods included are simple, cheap, and, best of all, safe. After all, you don’t want to be using dangerous chemicals to clean something that your kid is probably going to immediately put back into their mouth. You can find the entire list HERE.

Everyone talks about Spring Cleaning, but don’t forget Fall Cleaning!

While the concept of spring cleaning gets a lot of publicity, it is important to engage in fall cleaning as well to make sure that your home is prepared for the rough winter months. That’s why the Morning Thing took time today to share a fall cleaning checklist. Trust me, I know that you probably don’t need another thing added to your to-do-list, but these fall cleaning items are the definition of “an ounce of prevention.” By taking the time to go through them now you will save yourself from having to deal with “a pound of cure” later.

Not everything on the list will apply to you. You may live in an apartment and not have to worry about winterizing your lawn equipment. You may not have a fireplace or chimney that needs cleaned. Regardless, there is something for everyone on this list. You can find the entire checklist HERE.
