Food for the Hungry 2021: Sandra Fithian of Psi Iota Xi and the Elementary School Collection

It’s that time of year again! No, not the time to start turkey shopping or to grumble at the Christmas music in stores, it’s the time when multiple events are happening to benefit this year’s Food for the Hungry collection. The Food for the Hungry slogan is “working together to care for our neighbors,” and, boy, does Knox County live up to that. Every year people all across the county team up in unique ways to make the collection a success. The amazing thing about it is that it is not just the adults coming together for the cause. Each year the youth of Knox County get involved and do incredible work to help those in need. One such effort is the annual Elementary School Collection.

Each year local elementary students compete to collect food and funds. The collection is running through this week and is overseen by Psi Iota Xi Sorority. We had the opportunity to talk with Sandra Fithian of Psi Iota Xi about the work they are doing this year to benefit Food for the Hungry. You can hear the entire conversation HERE.
