Get Connected With God Through a 21 Day Bible Reading Plan

As Christians, it is imperative that we spend time in God’s Word. It is our weapon against the enemy and God’s primary means of speaking with us. Despite the importance of reading the Bible regularly, it can be easy to forget to do so in the craziness of life. Even when we are intentionally trying to get back into the word it can be daunting to know where to start or what passages are most helpful in our current life stages. When we do read we might feel confused about how to apply what we have read.

Fortunately, the YouVersion Bible has compiled multiple reading challenges to help with all these concerns. These 21-day plans each have a unique theme with relevant Bible passages and reflections. There is something here for everyone, and 21 days is the perfect length- not too daunting, but long enough to help develop the habit of daily scripture reading.

You can find the complete list of reading plans HERE. And there’s no reason you can’t try more than one. Once your 21 days are up you can start a new one and get connected with God in another new way.

1. Unconditional Love

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. John 15:13

2. Prayerful Life

But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. -Luke 5:16

3. Forgiveness

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” – Luke 23:24

4. Humility

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. – Mark 10:45

5. Jesus studied The Word of God

When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him. 46 After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. -Luke 2:45-46

6. Compassion

But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. -Matthew 9:36

7. Seek First the Kingdom of God

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. –  Matthew 6:33

8. Self-Control

He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth. –  Acts 8:32

9. Authority

Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are–the Holy One of God!” And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” –  Mark 1:23

10. Obedience

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. –  Philippians 2:8

The Morning Thing Takes a Look at Valentine’s Day Around the World

While the U.S. has its own special brand of both heartfelt and commercialized Valentine’s celebrations, it is not the only country to devote at least a day to celebrate love. Some countries have a fresh take on February 14th while others have an entirely different day marked on their calendars. Regardless, there are a lot of cool and unique ways that people around the world express their love, so the Morning Thing decided to take a look at some of them.

Perhaps this list will give you some new ideas for how to celebrate Valentine’s this day. How about giving your wife an intricately carved love-spoon? Try treating your husband to a marzipan figurine instead of chocolate. Want to feel brave at school? Go ahead and pin your crush’s name to your sleeve. The options are varied and plentiful. You can check out the entire list HERE.

Regardless of what you do or how you do it, be sure to show love to the people in your life this year- and not just romantic love! Use this time to show appreciation for your friends and family, as well as the romantic relationship in your life if you have one. You don’t have to be in a relationship to show love!
