For this week’s Meet the Team feature, we are featuring a group that worked on building a space balloon that recorded pictures of the recent solar eclipse. The 4H Space Balloon Team has been able to work with NASA on this project. They will also work with NASA on future projects.
WNZR’s Hannah Radke talked with their their team leader, Jeremy Funk. She also had a chance to talk with several student members of the team. Click HERE to hear their conversation.
The team successfully launched two balloons from Pennyrile State Park in Kentucky to record the August 21 solar eclipse.
Th team had full recovery, which means that the team has successful flight data from both the NASA balloon and the students’ balloon.
The team’s footage will be used in a NASA/Google “Eclipse Mega Movie”.
Several members will be attending the 8th annual academic high-altitude conference in October featuring solar eclipse ballooning.
