Food For The Hungry celebrates the 2020 Elementary School Collection

The 10th annual Turkey Trot returns on Thanksgiving morning!

Food For The Hungry introduces a NEW event – Battle of the Coffee Shops

WNZR’s Marcy Rinehart talked with Food For The Hungry Marketing Director, Katelynn Mabe about a new and exciting event.

The Battle of the Coffee Shops is going on this week at multiple coffee shops around Knox County.

Local residents can go to their favorite coffee shops, make a donation to Food For The Hungry and then get put into a drawing for gift cards to our local coffee shops.

It is a WIN WIN for everyone!

The battle is happening this week and again from 12/1 – 12/9!

The coffee shops involved include:
Blonde Robin in Danville
Brickhouse Grind, Fredericktown
Wiggin Street in Gambier
and in Mount Vernon: Cotto’s Treats, Half Baked, Happy Bean and North Main Café.

The winning coffee shop gets a FFTH Trophy saying “Coffee Shop of the Year”.

Today is the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kick-Off!

WNZR’s Wesley Boston talked with Captain Christine Moretz of Mount Vernon’s Salvation Army. She shared details about this year’s Red Kettle Campaign including the many ways that you can support the ministry. This year’s theme is “Rescue Christmas”.

The Psi Iota Xi Elementary School Collection to benefit Food For The Hungry is happening this week!

WNZR’s Marcy Rinehart talked with Sandra Fithian of Psi Iota Xi about their involvement with Food For The Hungry.

The sorority coordinates the Elementary School collection for all Knox County Schools.
The collection is happening this week – 11/16 – 11/20!

Sandra shares details of the collection, the Top 10 Food Items needed at the local food pantries and how the classes across the county are competing.
The top contributing class in each school (12 total) will win a pizza party that includes pizza, drinks and delivery TO their classroom! The top student collectors in each school will be part of the Food For The Hungry broadcast on 12/11.

Katelynn shared why she decided to get involved with Food For The Hungry and what got her interested in the project. She also tells us about her role as Marketing Director.

Katelynn also shares more details of changes for this year’s drive. She tells us how we can volunteer to help the drive.

This year’s goal is $240,000! Katelynn highlights some of the exciting events that will be happening this year to support our fundraising efforts.
