For Will Stokes, some of the most important work at the Knox County Fair happens before an animal ever enters the show ring.
WNZR’s Josiah Styer talked with Will about his role as the 2026 Market Hog Liaison, the work of the Junior Fair Board, and his own experience showing market hogs.

Will is from Newcastle and is a senior at the Knox County Career Center. He is a member of East Knox FFA, has participated in 4-H for seven years, and is serving his second year on the Knox County Junior Fair Board.
His responsibilities include attending planning meetings, helping prepare for the fair, assisting with weigh-ins, and making sure shows run smoothly. As Market Hog Liaison, he also helps younger exhibitors with their animals and answers questions when problems come up.
Will brings his own market hogs to the fair as well. He said preparing them for competition includes keeping them clean, healthy, and ready to be presented in the show ring.
His plans after the fair are still taking shape, and he is considering joining the U.S. Army.
Will said his time in 4-H and on the Junior Fair Board has helped him meet people and build friendships. One of his favorite memories is not from a livestock show, but from working alongside other board members while washing cars and picking up trash.
