Christmas Eve Traditions!

Don’t have a Christmas Eve tradition for you and your family?

Check out these sites for some great ideas!

Here are some of our favorites:

1. Pajama Exchange

In more than a few families we talked to, each family member is allowed to open just one gift on Christmas Eve. Several of these same families know exactly what they’re opening: snuggly Christmas pajamas. This traditional kickoff to the giving and receiving of gifts gets everyone set for bed and looking cute for Christmas morning photos.

2. Christmas Eve Hot Chocolate and Christmas Stories

Before your little elves head off to bed, spend part of the evening drinking hot chocolate and sharing Christmas stories. Of course, you can always go right to the source for your Christmas story and choose a reading from the Gospel.

3. Have a Christmas Scavenger Hunt

Presents are great, but why not make your kids or grandkids work for their gifts from Santa this year? You can add a competitive element to your Christmas Eve celebrating by hiding the goods throughout the house, offering up clues about where they are as the night goes on.

4. Play a stocking guessing game

First, you need a host to put random things in a stocking. Once it’s stuffed, tie a ribbon or string around the top of the stocking so no one can peek inside. Sit in a circle and pass the stuffed stocking around so everyone can try to gauge what’s inside. Give them note cards so that they can write down what their guesses are. The person with the most correct answers wins the goodies!
