It’s Love Note Day!

(from www.daysoftheyear.com) Love Note Day is a day to tell someone you love them, by writing a message of love in the form of a note.

This day can be most effective when the recipient of the message isn’t aware that Love Note Day even exists! A loving message will come as a pleasant surprise.

Love Note Day can be for any family members or for long time friends, too. It’s the perfect day to make someone feel appreciated through just a few heartfelt words.

Love is an important emotion, make sure to tell people you love them.

It is National Kids Take Over the Kitchen Day!

National-Kids-Take-Over-The-Kitchen-Day-September-13-1

Today, The Morning Thing celebrated kids taking over kitchens all across the country. Today is a day when kids can use their favorite recipes and make a meal for their family!  (Adult supervision and assistance as required for the younger bakers and chefs in the house!)

(from www.nationaldaycalendar.com)

The Young Chefs Academy (YCA) sponsors this special day. The objective of their mission is to empower kids and teens to become more actively involved in the planning, preparation, and cooking of meals.  The YCA is fostering family bonds and actively fighting the battle against the many serious health and social issues related to youth’s eating habits in today’s time.

HOW TO OBSERVE

Let the kids cook for a change of pace. Try one of these kid-friendly recipes to get your children cooking!

Herbed Chicken Nuggets
Yogurt Sundaes

Cooking with your kids is a good way to help them build healthy eating habits.
You can show your kids how to help you prepare meals.
Here are ways that young kids can help in the kitchen, broken down by age.

What do we do in hard times? Turn to the Bible – The Morning Thing 9/12/17

Irma

Many families in the United States are facing hard times. Hurricanes, fires and other disasters are making life very difficult for many people.
So what do we do in hard times? How do we have faith?

We found a list of encouraging bible verses for times of trial.
(from www.biblestudytools.com) Jesus tells us that we will have troubles in this world, it’s a guarantee. However, He also promises that we have victory through our faith because Jesus Christ has overcome the world. If you are facing hard and uncertain times, you can be encouraged to press on knowing that you are an overcomer! Use the below Bible verses about having faith in hard times to lift your spirits and to share with others questioning God’s goodness.

Click HERE to see the list.

How do we encourage kids in their faith journey? Especially when they face hard times? Or have questions about disasters in our world?
We found some wonderful insight from www.focusonthefamily.com
Faith Grows in Hard Places — Even for Kids, and article by Dan Dupee.
Dan give parents some steps on how to walk your kids through pain.
1. Listen and Remind them of God’s love for them
2. Face trials with a biblical perspective on suffering
3. See suffering as a time of growth and refinement
Click HERE to see the full article.

So how do we know if the bible is true? How do we answer tough questions about faith when we are in the midst of trials?
Robert Velarde wrote an insightful article for Focus on the Family.  He digs into these areas for discussion: Truth and the Bible, Knowledge and the Bible, Evidence for the Bible and Jesus and the Bible. Click HERE for the full article.

Focus on the Family also has an online series called Is the Bible Reliable?
