You can change a child’s life by just packing a shoebox!

Christmas may be over a month away, but now is the time to start packing your shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child! National Collection Week is November 14-21, and many local churches are participating as drop-off collection points.

Click HERE for a list of participating churches and their drop-off times.

The Shoeboxes have had such a positive impact on children’s lives around the world. They don’t just get a fantastic gift of toys, personal care items, and school supplies, but they also get to hear the Good News of Jesus when they get their gifts!

Click HERE to read stories from people who got a Shoebox as a child. Many of them have gone on to form their own ministries!

Why worry when you can pray?

What do you do when things go wrong?
Today, The Morning Thing talked about how to handle those stressful situations.

When things go wrong we want to remember:

  1. God is only a prayer away. Open the door for divine intervention and keep your faith on during hardships
  2. Your life won’t end because of a hard time. Though it may feel like it, this situation won’t crush you. It has absolutely no power over your internal state, other than what you give it.
  3. Worry is counter-Productive. Just like a rocking chair, worry makes a person go back and forth but takes them nowhere.
  4. Suffering is a part of life, even for Jesus. There’s joy awaiting on the other side. It may not feel the best, but it’s all a part of the journey.

We also shared some insight from www.allprodad.com – teaching your kids to finish strong.

All Pro Dad discussed ways to talk to your child about the necessity of endurance in faith and life.

1. Perseverance in Difficulty.

2. Moral Character

3. A Commitment to Excellence.

occ-logo-245x215

The Morning Thing and Afternoon Drive teams have declared today as Make a Difference Monday! Today we are focusing on the ministry of Operation Christmas Child.

Did you know?

  • Operation Christmas Child is right around the corner! Donate your shoebox gifts this November at one of 565 drop-off locations in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, or West Virginia.
  • Find the drop-off location nearest you at org/occ. Click on “Drop-Off Locations” to search by your City or Zip Code.
  • National Collection Week is November 14 -21 – less than 6 weeks away!
  • Connect with Operation Christmas Child volunteers and hear inspiring stories at local events this season. Check out our events page at org/occ.  Click on “Serving with OCC” then “Local Events & Offices.”
  • The gift doesn’t end with the shoebox. After receiving a shoebox gift, children have the opportunity to join over 1.2 million children who have enrolled in The Greatest Journey, a dynamic, 12-lesson Bible study course guiding them through what it means to faithfully follow Jesus Christ. To learn more, visit samaritanspurse.org/occ and click on “Disciple Children.”
  • To find out more about what Operation Christmas Child is doing around the world and more ways you can get involved, visit us on Instagram at @operationchristmaschild.
  • Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has delivered gift-filled shoeboxes to more than 135 million children in more than 150 countries and territories.
  • Volunteers in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and West Virginia hope to pack enough shoebox gifts in 2016 to reach another 985,000 children! That means that each drop-off location needs to collect 1,744 boxes (within our 4 state area).
  • YOUR shoebox makes a difference!
