WNZR Presents the April MVNU Presidential Update

MVNU President, Dr. Carson Castleman, spoke with WNZR for our monthly Presidential Update.

Dr. Castleman starts with sharing about his recent inauguration that happened on Wednesday. He also shares messages for the community, students, staff, and faculty about what God is doing at MVNU.

Dr. Castleman also gave updates and details on different projects and programs at MVNU.

Dr. Castleman wrapped up with sharing his top priorities for the rest of the semester and for the summer. He also tells us how we can pray for MVNU, for him, and for his family.

WNZR Talks with Cast Members and Director from Meet Me in St. Louis!

Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s theatre program will perform “Meet Me in St. Louis,” March 22-24.

WNZR’s Alyssa Sidle spoke with director Zach Sherman and four cast members: Alex Pittman, Naomi Painter, Destiny Fullerton and Mallery Thompson!

The play is based on the book by Sally Benson. It is presented by special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing Inc., as adapted by Christopher Sergel.

“Meet Me in St. Louis” is a three-act play that follows the Smith family. It is 1904, and the World’s Fair is about to begin. For the five Smith children, this is the event of the century. But when their father announces that he has taken a job in New York, the family bands together to stop the move. Hilarity ensues as the children move from one disastrous plan to the next, in hope of staying in the city they love.

“Most people are familiar with the musical adaption of Meet Me in St. Louis. However, I have always had a soft spot for this iteration of the story. It is a fun comedy with a great ensemble cast, and it has been a joy seeing the students step into their various roles. I can’t wait to share this with the Mount Vernon community,” said Director Zac Sherman (’14) and coordinator of Theatre at MVNU.

Performances are Friday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, March 23, at 2:30 p.m.; and Sunday, March 24 at 2:30 p.m. All performances take place in The Thorne Performance Hall located inside the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Fine Arts Building at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, 800 Martinsburg Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for MVNU students and anyone under 18. Tickets for all performances may be purchased online at theatre.mvnu.edu or at the box office beginning one hour prior to show time. Seating opens approximately 30 minutes prior to show time. This production is suitable for all audiences.

WNZR presents the March 2024 MVNU Presidential Update

Dr. Castleman starts with sharing his thoughts on the first two months of the spring semester, he then talks about exciting new additions to MVNU’s staff.

Dr. Castleman discusses the new Director of Traditional Enrollment, Sarah Alexander, and the new Director of Graduate and Professional Studies Enrollment, Rachel Neal.

He also shares about the addition of Johnna Vanover, the new Vice President of Enrollment and Marketing, to his cabinet.

WNZR presents the January 2024 MVNU Presidential Update

WNZR Speaks with Interchurch Social Services Branch Managers

WNZR spoke with Interchurch Social Services Branch Managers as we build up toward drive day for Food For The Hungry. Interchurch Social Services is a grant recipient of the food and funds that are raised during the annual drive.

Sheryl O’Neil tells us all about her involvement with Interchurch Social Services in Centerburg and what the greatest needs are heading into the new year. Sheryl also gives us an idea on what she would like to see for the ministry heading into 2024.

Katie Frazier tells us about her involvement with Interchurch Social Services in Frederick Town and why she serves. She gives us a brief rundown of how the needs have grown this year and how people can help meet those needs.

Cindy Martin tells us about her involvement with Interchurch Social Services and how long she has been in the ministry. She gives us a rundown of the needs within her community and how they have grown and how people can help meet those needs. Mike Cheek, Class of 1982, is the Executive Director of Alumni Relations and Advancement at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Mike talked with WNZR’s Marcy Rinehart and The Lakeholm Viewer’s Faith West to preview the events of Homecoming 2023.

Mike gives an overview for the schedule for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and shares his excitement and expectations for Homecoming Weekend 2023 as alumni and family plan to make their way back to MVNU.

WNZR Talks with Directors and Cast Members from MVNU Fall One Acts

WNZR’s Alyssa Sidle had the opportunity to chat with Zach Sherman, writer and director of Miracles & Con Men. The show is a musical one act that will be presented during MVNU Homecoming at the Thorne Performance Hall with performances on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

We also talked to Alex Pittman who is a student and the director for the one act, The Great Mythology Olympiaganza. He shared what his experience has been like working as a student director.

Finally, we spoke with three cast members from the Fall One Acts. We talked to Logan Davis, Destiny Fullerton, and Chloe Hall. They all shared about their roles and how they have enjoyed working on the Fall One Acts.

Simon Taylor Talks Early Bird Turkey Trot Ahead of MVNU Homecoming

MVNU’s Simon Taylor, Head Coach for Cross Country, shares about an upcoming fundraiser happening Homecoming Weekend. The Early Bird Turkey Trot is a 5K that will benefit Cross Country and Track & Field.

Simon shares all the details for the 5K which is happening Saturday, November 11th beginning at 9am in front of the chapel on MVNU’s camps.

Simon also talks about the season for Cross Country which just wrapped up and gives a preview for the indoor Track & Field season.
