Today is the National Day of Encouragement. Who will you encourage today?

How will you make this Monday great?
Celebrate the National Day of Encouragement with The Morning Thing!

The day was first announced in 2007 by the mayor of Searcy, Arkansas. National Day of Encouragement was then embraced by the Governor of Arkansas the following month. Later, US President George W. Bush signed a message declaring September 12 to be the National Day of Encouragement.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NIV

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Got the Monday Blues? Read this blog and be encouraged!

On The Morning Thing today (8/29), we shared encouragement to help you fight the Monday Blues.

Click HERE to find 10 bible verses that will encourage you and strengthen you as you face a new day and a new week!

We also shared a list of what you should remember when you whole day seems to go wrong. Great advice from The Positivity Blog.

1. There is a brand new day tomorrow.

Just because this day or the last week didn’t go well doesn’t mean that there is not a brand new day tomorrow.

A day when you can start anew.

With taking action to move towards what you want, likely having a bit more luck and when it will be easier to see that this difficult time is only temporary and not permanent (even if it might feel that way right now).

2. I’ve handled tough situations in the past.

When you’re standing in the middle of things going wrong then you might get a bit panicky. And lose faith in yourself and your abilities.

Then look to the past for a bit of strength and confidence in what you can do.

Doing this helps me to feel like I am standing on firmer ground again.

And sometimes I can even find a solution I used for another challenge in the past that I can reuse or readjust to get me out of this situation too.

3. What is going well in my life though?

It’s very easy to get stuck in focusing on the negative things and so they drag you further and further down into self-criticism and negativity.

But don’t forget that there are still things that are going well in your life. It may be small things. Or things you often take for granted like a roof over your head, clean water or three steady meals every day.

I find that zooming out in this way helps me a lot to snap out of destructive thought patterns and to feel more level-headed again.

Have a good Monday and week ahead!

Bible Verses to Give You Strength!

bible

Today on the Morning Thing, we shared some Bible verses to give you strengths through all of life’s trials and tribulations.

“I will sing to the Lord,
for he is highly exalted.
Both horse and driver
he has hurled into the sea.

The Lord is my strength and my defense;
he has become my salvation.
He is my God, and I will praise him,
my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
The Lord is a warrior;
the Lord is his name.
Pharaoh’s chariots and his army
he has hurled into the sea.
The best of Pharaoh’s officers
are drowned in the Red Sea.”

-Exodus 15: 1-4
