Today, The Morning Thing talked about respect – this time focusing on husbands earning respect from their wives.
1 Corinthians 13 gives us the perfect example of love and respect for any relationship.
(New International Version) 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhoodbehind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

When men demonstrate humility, grace, and mercy at home, the strength of character that defines them as servant-leaders commands the kind of respect that is rooted in love and appreciation.
We also shared thoughts on respect from Kevin A. Thompson, lead pastor at Community Bible Church in western Arkansas. Every year he meets with nearly one hundred couples with a range of needs, from premarital counseling to navigating the most serious betrayals. Kevin is a marriage and parenting conference speaker. He is married to Jenny and they have two children.

Women need respect just as much as men. Respect is an aspect of love within the context of marriage. (See: Respect–A Necessary Ingredient for Marriage)
The need for a husband to respect his wife is just as important as a wife respecting her husband.
Five ways a husband respects his wife:
1. He seeks to fully know her and to woo her heart.
2. He is a true partner to her in raising children, making a home, and fulfilling her dreams.
3. He speaks to her and about her with respect.
4. He is influenced by her opinions and beliefs.
5. He nourishes a healthy emotional relationship with her.
Respect is a vital part of any relationship. It is a necessary aspect of a healthy marriage. Where respect is present, problems are negotiable, communication is helpful, and compassion is abounding. Where respect is absent, everything is toxic.
Husbands, love your wives by developing a deep respect for them.

The Morning Thing blog today was based on an article called “The 5 Respect Needs of Men”. This article came from the book, For Women Only by Shaunti Feldhahn.
There was no intention for the article/discussion to be perceived in any negative way. It was meant to be a discussion within the context of Christlike love, which calls us to mutual and equal respect and sacrifice.
I also want to explain that there is a plan to discuss how men can show respect for women in next Tuesday’s show. We didn’t have time today to discuss both sides because we had multiple ticket giveaways and an interview with a Sonfest artist. It was my misjudgment to not clearly communicate this plan through our social media postings.
I have always tried to be transparent and honest about our ministry at WNZR. It has been my passion for 22 years as Station Manager to find content that can inspire and encourage anyone that connects with our signal – anyone listening, reading an online post or sharing the information from behind the microphone.

Join MTVArts and First Knox National Bank as they take you to New York City with their productions of Annie Jr. and Annie Kids!
It’s the classic heartwarming story of Annie, and her attempts to escape the hard knock life of the orphanage.
