The Morning Thing kicks off Travel Week!

This is Travel Week on The Morning Thing. All week we are going to share stories of trips – to the mission field and beyond.

On Monday, we talked with Hannah DeWalt about her trip to Costa Rica. Hannah  traveled to Costa Rica when she was a student at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. She stayed in San Jose, Costa Rica where she studied at the Spanish Language Institute. WNZR’s Joe Rinehart joined us on the show to share travel tips for trips out of the country.  Joe is a missionary kid that has great advice if you are planning a trip outside the USA. Click HERE to hear his conversation with Rachel.

We also shared a prayer request for an upcoming mission trip to Honduras. Members of the Fredericktown United Methodist Church are preparing for a trip in August. WNZR’s Rachel Rinehart talked with Robin McClay, Todd McClay and Heather Brake about their upcoming trip to Honduras. They will be working with Kids Ark International – a big Vacation Bible School for kids. Please keep the group in your prayers as they prepare to leave in August.

Christmas in July comes to Knox County on Saturday 7/13

Interchurch Social Services has a big impact in our community.
On Saturday, 7/13, the 36th annual Christmas in July event will be held to benefit the ministry of Interchurch.
WNZR’s Hunter Sutyak talked with Joy Harris, Executive Director of Interchurch Social Services. She shared more details about this outreach, how you can get involved and the needs at their pantries across the county. Click HERE to hear their conversation.

WNZR supports Knox County Interchurch Social Services at Christmas in July on Saturday 7/13!
Join the Big Blue crew to support this annual food drive to benefit Interchurch Social Services of Knox County.

This is the 36th annual Christmas in July and the goal is $20,000 in combined cash and food. On Saturday, 7/13, 17 collection points will be open and accepting non-perishable food and monetary donations to support all four Interchurch locations – Centerburg, Danville, Fredericktown and Mount Vernon.

Knox Addiction Conference

Today on The Morning Thing we got to talk with Emily Morrison who is the program director of the Knox Substance Abuse Action Team (KSAAT). Emily talked about the Knox Addiction Conference.

KSAAT prepares Social Media Videos

WNZR’s Wesley Boston talked with Matt Starr from Kokosing River Productions about KSAAT’s Social Media Video Campaign. KSAAT is the Knox Substance Abuse Action Team. The organization has created a social media action plan for the coming year. Matt shared more about this plan and how videos will be incorporated into KSAAT’s Social Media presence.

We’re Off to See the Wizard… at the Memorial Theatre

MTVArts is back with their annual summer musical. This year, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the classic film, they are presenting The Wizard of Oz.
