MVNU’s new President, Dr. Carson Castleman stopped by WNZR to share the November Presidential Update.
He discussed his first month on the job, the challenges that he is facing and changes that he has already made for MVNU.
He talked about the change for the positional statement and recent administrative staff changes.
Dr. Castleman also shared his passion for MVNU’s enrollment and how he plans to personally be involved in the recruitment process.
Dr. Castleman shared his top priorities for the university as we wrap up 2023 and head into 2024. He also shared the steps he is taking now to help MVNU meet these challenges.
We also received a family update and celebrate the upcoming wedding of Dr. Castleman’s daughter.
We talked about Thanksgiving, time with family, and favorite dishes.
Dr. Castleman shared a special message for students, faculty and staff. He wrapped up our time by sharing how we can pray for him and his family.

WNZR presents the October 2023 MVNU Presidential Update.
MVNU’s new President, Dr. Carson Castleman, talked with WNZR during his first week on the job.
Dr. Castleman is MVNU’s 8th President. He shared his history working in higher education including starting out in the MVNU Admissions Office. He shared memories from being part of this community 26 years ago.
Dr. Castleman also shared how he heard about this position and how he came to the decision to put his name into consideration.
Dr. Castleman gives his top priorities at MVNU which include focusing on growing enrollment, building a relationship with the Church of the Nazarene, and fostering a culture of hospitality. He also shares what it means to be Unapologetically Christian as a university.
Dr. Castleman shared about his family and his process of moving to Mount Vernon. He shared messages for students, faculty, and staff. He also shared how we can be praying for him and his family during this transition.

The Morning Thing hosted the monthly MVNU Update on Friday, 8/4/23.
Dr. James Smith, MVNU’s Vice President of University Relations, shared details about the MVNU 2027 strategic plan. He discusses the timeline for the plan, and the 8 strategies within the plan. He shares the 13 initiatives in the plan, and how MVNU is currently adopting the initiatives.
He also gives an update on the MVNU presidential search. Dr. Smith also shares what he is most looking forward to in the fall semester.

MVNU Update with Dr. David Wilson
The Morning Thing hosted the monthly MVNU Update on Friday, 7/7/23.
Dr. Wilson also gave us a rough timeline for the installation of a new president. The hope is to announce the new president by mid-fall.

Dr. Spaulding shared an update on his health and talked about how this graduation would be bittersweet. Dr. Spaulding will be retiring after MVNU’s Commencement on 5/6/23.
He talked about the accomplishments that he is proud of, shared memories from his time at MVNU and gave us an update on the Presidential Search.
Dr. Spaulding shared a special message to the Class of 2023 and all MVNU students. He also shared encouragement for MVNU Faculty and Staff.
He shared the plans that he and Sharon have for retirement, including a trip to Florida and a move to Sunbury.

Dr. Kovach shares the exciting news about MVNU’s Summer Academic Camps. The camps are for high school students who are looking for a fun, hands-on college experience in a field of their interest. There are two sessions: July 10 – 14 and July 17 – 21.
Scholarships are also available. The deadline to register is Friday, June 16.

WNZR presents the November 2022 MVNU Presidential Update

Dr. Spaulding shared his thoughts as the fall semester of 2022 is winding down.
He shares an update from the recent Board of Trustees meeting including the election of officers. They approved a tentative budget for 2023-2024, which includes a 3% raise for faculty and staff.
Dr. Spaulding also shared that the Board of Trustees gave unanimous approval of the Strategic Investment Initiatives. These initiatives will include some new programs, and new positions and enhance MVNU’s enrollment.
Dr. Spaulding talks about how these plans are strategic to move the university to a higher standing in the region at a level of a doctoral-granting institution. He also shares some examples of the new programs coming with this board approval. There will be a focus on programs dealing with Mental Health.
Dr. Spaulding shares his highest priorities for the month of November, an overview of the 2022 Homecoming Schedule, and how he wants to see the Men’s Basketball team beat Olivet Nazarene University!
