KCCC Launches T-Shirt Fundraiser for Food For the Hungry!

Knox County Career Center Teachers and Project Advisors Cassie Gray and Amy Rine joins student Carter Dickerson and to talk about their T-Shirt Fundraiser to support Food For The Hungry.

Carter says that they do this event every year and Amy explains why the students decided to help Food for The Hungry. Amy says its really important to give back to the community and support those in need.

Cassie talks about their theme “Believe there is Good in the World (Be the Good) and why they decided to use that theme. 

Carter says they have crewneck sweatshirts ($25) and t-shirts ($15) in olive green and cardinal red and sizes range from Extra Small to 4-XL.

Amy says shirts are on sale November 20th. The shirts will ship December 10th and should arrive by the Food For The Hungry broadcast on December 12th.

Cassie says the student officers have really managed the program. They met earlier this year, picked the theme and the high school staff helped select the colors. The students also sell the shirts during the lunch period.

The students will also be volunteering the KCCC Open House and in student competitions in December.

WNZR talks with MVNU Alumni – Josh Hooper, Josh Pollock, Mike Basko and Judah Keith from River Radio

WNZR’s Marcy Rinehart talked with four MVNU graduates: Josh Hooper, Class of 2002; Josh Pollock, Class of 2014; Mike Basko, Class of 2024; and Judah Keith, Class of 2025.
They shared about what brought them to MVNU and how they made their way to the WNZR Staff.
We shared memories and lessons learned while being at WNZR and MVNU.
They talked about what it meant to be part of WNZR’s 39-year legacy.
They also gave advice for students what are currently studying in the communication and media field.
All 4 gentlemen are working at The River in Columbus.

MVNU prepares for a special Homecoming 2025 Weekend

MVNU Graduate Brian White joined the conversation to talk about his time at MVNU and WNZR. He shared how God’s leading allowed him to become an award-winning songwriter.
Brian will host a workshop on Saturday 11/15 at 2:30pm in Thorne Performance Hall.

WNZR talks with Kevin Henthorn from Knox County Veterans Services about Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day, we had a conversation with Kevin Henthorn, executive director of Knox County Veterans Services.

He gave an overview of the services they provide and shared what Veterans Day means to him. Kevin also explained some of the difficulties his office faces and how we can support local veterans during the holidays and all year long!

The city of Mount Vernon invites everyone to a special Veterans Day service at the Knox Memorial Theater, 112 East High Street. The the service begins at 11:00 a.m.

Marcy talks with two MVNU Alumni for Homecoming!

As we get closer to homecoming and our homecoming reunion, WNZR wants to catch up with some alumni! Marcy sat down with a MVNU and WNZR graduates, Mike Cheek and Brian White!

They talk about some of their favorite memories, their love for baseball, and homecoming weekend!

They are holding a benefit concert called “A Night with Nashville” which will happen on Saturday night at 8pm!

The Kick-Off for the 2025 Food For The Hungry Drive is tomorrow, Friday, November 7th!

Kathy Brechler, Executive Director, and Olivia Stern, Digital Content and Marketing Director for FFTH, shared a brief history of their involvement with the ministry. They also explained their roles, talked about the Kick-off, and shared ways that the community can help FFTH and Knox County.

MVNU student Zane Menzie is the director of the production of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The show is taking place this weekend at the Thorne Performance Hall at MVNU.

Orange Barrel’s Production of The Little Princess is coming soon!

We got to talk with a cast member, Glenn Hissong. Glenn tells us about his acting history, how he has been preparing for this show, and the story of The Little Princess! He also shares some of his favorite parts of the production.

The show opens up Friday, November 14th!
