The Turkey Trot is back in 2024 to benefit Food For The Hungry

WNZR’s Marcy Rinehart talked with Scott Burgess from We Run MV about this year’s Turkey Trot.

The 14th Annual Turkey Trot is scheduled for Thanksgiving morning (11/28) on the campus of Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
Registration starts at 8am. The race starts at 9am.
Participants are asked to bring a food and/or monetary donation to benefit Food For The Hungry.
Scott shares some amazing stats from the past 13 years:

  • Over 2,000 participants
  • 7,600 food items collected
  • Over $14,000 collected

You can keep the legacy alive. Come be a part of the Turkey Trot this year!

MVNU Cross Country hosts the “Before the Bird” 5K Run and Walk

MVNU’s Cross Country Coach, Simon Taylor stopped by WNZR to chat about the team and an exciting event.

The team is hosting the “Before the Bird” 5K Run and Walk on Saturday, November 16th!
Registration is from 8:15am – 8:45am
Race starts at 9am
Where – MVNU Campus Chapel.

All proceeds from the event are donated to MVNU Cross Country.

MVNU presents Handel’s Messiah on 11/24

Dr. Bob Tocheff stopped by WNZR to share about the upcoming performance of Handel’s Messiah.

The 56th performance of Handel’s Messiah is scheduled earlier than past years, taking place Sunday, Nov. 24, at 7 p.m. in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for General Admission.
Dr. Bob talks about this year’s performance, the guest singers and the orchestra. He also shares how the Messiah benefits the MVNU Music Program and students.

MVNU Professor, Jayme McMillan joined us with tips on how to have better and more effective communication.

WNZR’s Cougar Conversation with Peyton Heiss

WNZR’s Cougar Conversation today features freshman Peyton Heiss from the MVNU Men’s Basketball Team. He is from Plain City, Ohio.

Peyton started playing basketball at the age of 6. One of his favorite memories is learning the sport with his Dad as his coach. Their strong relationship was built during this special time in his life.

He plays guard/forward for the Cougars and is excited to join a team that plays hard every day.

Peyton talks about the RULECougar culture. He is learning how to put others before himself. RULE stands for Relentless Effort, Unbreakable Spirit, Servant Leadership and Competitive Excellence.

Rapid Fire reveals his favorite superhero, what is on his bucket list and what can instantly make his day better.

  • Exciting news about MVNU Stats Day, including an update on enrollment.

  • The closure of Eastern Nazarene College and how MVNU is responding and addressing the needs of those students. He also shares some stats of how many ENC students came to MVNU.
  • Recent transitions with University Advancement, Development and Alumni Relations. He announced the hiring of two new positions for MVNU – Chief Development Officer for the office of University Advancement and Executive Director of Enrollment Systems and Operations.
  • MVNU’s new Gateway Program. Dr. Castleman has prioritized strengthening church relations through this new initiative. MVNU will partner with churches, nonprofits and corporations to increase access to education.
  • He also shares his top priorities for MVNU in the month of October.
  • Dr. Carson Castleman highlights some exciting events coming up on his calendar and the MVNU calendar, including a trip to South Africa.
  • He shares special messages for MVNU students, faculty and staff.
