The Big Blue Crew is headed to Centerburg tomorrow for the Oldtime Farming Festival. We want to salute our famers and say thanks for their hard work! Agriculture has a big impact on our daily lives. Check out this list of ways that agriculture is impacting you every day. Click HERE for the list.

The Centerburg Oldtime Farming Festival is a non-profit organization that is committed to putting on a festival that strives to celebrate and preserve the agricultural heritage of the Centerburg area by recalling and recreating activities common in the lives of our farming predecessors. They also strive to create a safe environment where families can have a fun and affordable entertainment experience.

Have you heard of TAC?

The Teen Advisory Council is a group of Knox County youth, ages 14-18, who actively work to end teen dating and sexual violence. TAC members are “Ambassadors” of healthy, safe, equal, and non-violent relationships among their peers and in the community.

A special event for International Overdose Awareness Day is coming this Friday.

The Grievers of Overdose Support group is hosting a special event on Friday, 8/31 for International Overdose Awareness Day.

Mount Vernon Police Chaplaincy

Whether we want to admit it or not, it is back to school season! Schools are starting back up all across Knox County!

Mount Vernon:

  • Thursday 8/16 (for elementary students, freshman and new students at the high school)
  • Friday 8/17 (for Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors)

 Centerburg – Thursday 8/16

 Danville – Thursday 8/16

 Fredericktown – Thursday 8/16

 East Knox – Monday 8/20

Here at WNZR, we want to help you and your kids get ready for back to school! Care.com has 101 tips for you and your kids! Here are some for you:

  1. Set your kids’ sleep schedules back to “School Time” two weeks before the first day.
  2. Get your kids involved in programs that they can do after school to keep them active.
  3. Visit cultural attractions like museums to shift their brains into “Scholar” mode.
  4. Hire an after-school sitter to help care for your kids while you’re at work.
  5. Encourage your kids to read at least one book before the school year begins (or during the school year).

The Dan Emmett Quilt Show and Flower Show are back!
