Click HERE for the full article from Henrik Edberg.

1. Pause and look around yourself.

A first simple step to building the gratitude habit is simply to pause in your everyday life and to ask yourself questions like:

  • What can I be grateful for in my life today?
  • Who are 3 people that I can be grateful to have in my life and why?

2. Look towards yourself.

Don’t just look outward.

Ask yourself:

What are 3 things I can be grateful for about myself?

3. Take a closer look at the very smaller things or what you may take for granted.

Don’t just focus on the big and obvious things you can be grateful for.

Think about what very small things you can be grateful for too.

4. Do it early or late in your day.

Two things that I have found effective are:

  • Take 1 minute in the morning to get a good start to your day by finding 3 small or big things you are grateful for in your life.
  • Take 1-2 minutes each evening and use a journal to write down maybe 3 or 5 things you are grateful for about your day, about yourself or about your life.

5. Express your gratitude.

Don’t just keep the gratitude on the inside. Express it.

What does the bible have to say about gratitude?

Ephesians 5:20 – Always give thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 – “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Psalm 118:24 – “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 107:1 – “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

The Morning Thing Shares Songs That Help with Anxiety

In the midst of life’s challenges and uncertainties, anxiety has become an increasingly common struggle for many individuals. While there are various methods to cope with anxiety, one often overlooked avenue of solace lies within the realm of listening to worship songs. Beyond their spiritual significance, these powerful melodies have the potential to provide a profound sense of comfort, reassurance, and relief.

This morning we shared a list of 10 songs that help with anxiety from Crosswalk.com! Read the full list HERE.

Worship songs possess a remarkable ability to touch our souls and provide solace during times of anxiety. Through their melodies, lyrics, and communal nature, they offer a pathway to Jesus, emotional expression, and spiritual connection. Whether through personal moments of devotion or communal worship, engaging with these songs can be a powerful tool in managing anxiety and cultivating a sense of well-being. So, let us allow the harmonies to wash over us, embracing the peace that comes from immersing ourselves in the melodies of worship.

We hope these songs touch with the Spirit of God and bring peace to your life today.

The couples that pray together are stronger together!

Today on The Morning Thing, we shared some insight from author Lynette Kittle from Crosswalk.com

She created a powerful list for couples – 7 Ways Praying Together Strengthens a Couple’s Marriage

Click HERE to read the full article.

1. Praying Together Breaks Down Barriers

2. Praying Together Opens Hearts

3. Praying Together Brings Unity

4. Praying Together Prioritizes

5. Praying Together Cultivates Spiritual Connectivity

6. Praying Together Builds Camaraderie

7. Praying Together Brings Results

How to Begin Praying Together as a Couple

1. Voice your request. Express to your spouse how you would like to pray together. Ask his or her thoughts on what day, time, and location might work best for you as a couple to pray. If possible, be flexible and rearrange your schedule to do so.

2. Just do it. Rather than just thinking about it, set your time and begin praying together. Be committed to learning as you go in what pace and format works best for you and your spouse. Give yourselves time to adjust and adapt to each other’s way of praying.

3. Keep going. Your prayer time may start out awkward at first but don’t give up. Keep plugging away. Soon you’ll discover how prayer strengthens your marriage and draws you closer together as a couple.

Lynette Kittle is married with four daughters. She enjoys writing about faith, marriage, parenting, relationships, and life. Her writing has been published by Focus on the Family, Decision, Today’s Christian Woman, kirkcameron.com, Ungrind.org, StartMarriageRight.com, and more.
