First Responders in Knox County had a chance to test their training and practice their skills on Saturday, 9/29. The Knox County Emergency Management Agency hosted their annual disaster exercise with a hazardous materials emergency.
Marcy Rinehart of The Morning Thing talked with Mark Maxwell, the Director of the Knox County Emergency Management Agency. He talked about the goal behind the annual LEPC exercise. Click HERE to hear their conversation.
The exercise scenario involved a box truck making a delivery to Kokosing Construction in Fredericktown. The truck contained improperly secured barrels of a hazardous material. While en-route, one of the barrels fell over and released product. The driver, his co-worker and several Kokosing employees were treated within protocol of a hazmat situation as part of the exercise.
16 organizations participated in the LEPC exercise. The Knox County Emergency Operations Center was also activated and evaluated.

This morning, we heard from the Mt. Vernon High School Marching Band director, Miss Megan Aubihl! She told us all about the Yellow Jacket Showcase that is happening tomorrow, Saturday, September 29th.
The Showcase is happening at 7:00pm, at the Yellow Jacket Stadium!
This is a ticketed event! Tickets for adults are $5, and tickets for seniors/students are $3.
