Wayback Wednesday and Popular Bible Veres We Can Take for Granted

good old red letter.jpgToday on the Morning Thing we listened to your favorite songs from the past and shared bible verses of encouragement that we often misinterpret, but they hold such powerful messages.

Verse one was John 3:16, and we take this verse for granted sometimes. We shared how much this verse meant to us and why Gods Love is the greatest gift of all time.

The second verse was Jeremiah 29:11 and we talked about how sometimes prosperity is taken out of context to mean physical gratification instead of spiritual fulfillment. God may not hand you the keys to a new car or solve your financial problems; but he walks with us in times of struggle and protects us in times of spiritual warfare.

The third verse was Philippians 4:13, and while we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength, we let Paul’s words in the chapter speak for themselves. Paul went through struggles in prison, and dropped everything to follow God, not worrying about where to sleep or how to eat, but about his spiritual fulfillment. Again, God doesn’t focus specifically on our worldly needs, and we will face struggles and trials, but God does not intend to condemn us, but to grow our spirit for his glory, and our strength.

Romans 8:28 was our fourth verse and was one of Hunter’s favorites because it has had significant impact on his recent life. We talked about again about how Good may be misinterpreted as profit and earthly gain, but Hunter was guided spiritually in his situation and that is where the verse guides us! Those who love God are not condemned by his works, but they are tools to grow us into better Christians and people.
