March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

Brittany Coon with the Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities talks about the history of the month including when President Ronald Reagan designated the month in 1987.

Marcy with the Morning Thing spoke to Anita and she is excited to be leaving the farm behind and spend time with women who “are chasing hard after God,” laugh learn, and enjoy this incredible event.

Anita shares what her message will be this weekend to the women who attend the conference.

Her message is “Moving Forward.” She believes that many people get stuck in life but should use the bible and scriptures to “find healing and growth moving in our faith from glory to glory.”

The Morning Thing Celebrates National Working Mom’s Day!

Some women are working moms because they choose to have a career, and others work outside the home to be able to meet the financial needs of the family.


This day acts as a reminder that moms who also hold down jobs juggle all kinds of responsibilities and they DESERVE appreciation for their hard work and dedication.


On the Morning Thing Wednesday, Marcy (who was a working mom) and Shawn shared some ways you can appreciate moms.


They also shared four ways to find joy in the juggle of being a working mom by Laura Rutledge. Rutledge is a journalist and host for ESPN and the SEC Network.

Salvation Army of Mount Vernon at 79% of Light the Day Construction Project

Captain Christine Moretz with the Salvation Army in Mount Vernon talks about the Light of Day project which is adding a 13-thousand square foot childcare center that can accommodate over 100 children 6-weeks and older.

Christine talks about the Light of Day project being at 79% of the $6.25 million goal.
Christine says the Knox County is incredibly supportive of every organization and they are blessed by the support.
Christine talks about some of the services they provide including being a licensed childcare center, after school program and enrolling kids for their summer camp program.
They provide food and food pantry to those that need help, guitar lessons, and more.
Part of the campaign is to bring a choice pantry to the community.
Christine talks about how you can find out more about the Salvation Army and gives an update on the construction of the building. They broke ground and are about 40% complete.
She says they are not only building a building but a community through Christ’s name and God’s kingdom together.

Wyatt is very active here at MVNU. He is on the Volleyball Team and plays Esports. He also likes golf and works at a golf course.

Ethan talks about how God has been working in his life. His favorite verse is Psalm 86:12.

Make Some Great Musical Memories with Your Kids!

March is National Sing with Your Kids Month and it’s amazing how belting out a tune together can boost kids happiness and confidence, not to mention strengthen those precious bonds between you.

On the Morning Thing with Shawn and Eric, they talked about the benefits of singing as family is a fantastic way to help little ones with their language skills.

For the older kids out there, have a karaoke night where you sing with microphones or hairbrushes to songs to have a great time.

There also health benefits for just singing including relieving stress, increase your pain threshold, improve snoring and lung function.
