The Morning Thing is celebrating the Knox County Fair this week by sharing a Fair Fave 5 every day!
On Wednesday (7/27), we shared our favorite Fair events and shows.
1.Rough Truck. This is always a FUN and EXCITING event. Why? You never know what is going to happen when the trucks go through the obstacle course.
What is Rough Truck?(from the Knox County Fair website) It is high-flying, fast paced action when local competitors push their street trucks to the limit over the obstacle course in front of the Grandstand. See local competitors in their Fords, Chevy’s, Dodges, Toyotas, Jeeps, and more dash for the cash and to claim the title of Knox County’s Roughest Truck ! Release Form must be signed at the time of
entry by driver. Click HERE to find out more information and see the amazing prizes! See the Rough Truck Contest Wednesday at 7pm at the Grandstand.
*Look for 3 time National Champion, Adam Blankenhorn in the competition tonight!*
2. Figure 8 School Bus and Truck Races. This is a race, not a demo derby. School buses must be moving forward in a figure 8 formation. If they are trapped, they have to wait until it is clear to move. This race is SO much fun to watch because, well, school buses have a difficult time turning in a figure 8. They are also heavier than regular cars or trucks. You never know what is going to happen! Click HERE to find out more information and to see the rules of this race.
3. Junior Fair Sale of Champions. This event last year (including the dairy product sale) brought in $79,259.50! This is always an exciting event in the multi-purpose building on Thursday morning of the Knox County Fair. Join WNZR LIVE from 9:30am – 11:30am on Thursday as we bring your results as each grand and reserve champion animal is sold.
4. Friday night’s concert is always a BIG draw for Knox County citizens, especially country music fans. This year, Parmalee is coming to the fair for an 8pm show. Parmalee is an American county music band consisting of brothers Matt Thomas and Scott Thomas along with cousin Barry Knox and Josh McSwain. Parmalee made history when its multi-week #1 smash “Carolina” became the longest climbing single by a duo or group in the 24-year history of the Billboard Country Airplay Chart. Other hits include Already Callin’ You Mine and Musta Had a Good Time. Tickets are on sale now. Please call the Fair Board Office to order.740-397-0484
5. Go Cart Races! The fun event has become a crowd favorite. The horse pulling track became a very active go cart racetrack on Tuesday night. Click HERE to check out this fun video taken by WNZR Staff Member, Dan Monnin. (Arrow down to the section with all videos and click on the first one that says “Go Cart Racing”).
